There! I Admit It! I’m a TOTAL Hypochondriac!

Oh man, where do I even start with this?  Let me begin with what prompted me to write on this topic. The other day I reached for a glass of water and inspected it, trying to figure out why the glass felt so lumpy. I didn’t see anything wrong with it so I put the glass down and moved on. A few minutes later I turned on my faucet and was shocked by how lumpy it was. Once again, upon inspection, I saw nothing.  So I looked at my finger! Low and behold – my finger had a huge bump on it and it was totally discolored!!! I had no recollection of having injured myself. So folks, still think a calorie is just a calorie?  Let’s break it down for ya in real time.  Here’s a ‘to-die-for’ treat, (TRUST me on this!  And then GO TRY THIS – and dare to tell me I’m crazy!).  Half a medjool date (take the pit out, or die.  You choose.), 1 t of almond butter, 2 dark chocolate chips.  IT’S THAT EASY!  and THAT delicious!  Now, let’s compare that hottie to a Hershey’s Candy Bar. Ya Think You’re Getting Your Calcium, Don’t Cha?!!!

SO!  We all know that calcium is crucial for bone health.  It also plays a role in helping with blood clotting, the transmission of nerve impulses, and the regulation of the heart’s rhythm. ‘Milk does a body good’ was pounded into our heads as kids!  Right?  Well, not so fast!  Here are a few things that you need to know to be armed with the knowledge to make the best, most nutritional choices for yourself and for your family (REALLY important for kids)…., so ready?  Here goes:

Just a quick tidbit for everyone, because PERSONALLY when I understand something, it’s much easier to make healthy choices (read: “WILLPOWER”).  Look at this chart!  Unrefined plant food consumption (meaning, GOOD stuff, food that hasn’t been altered, pulverized, changed or PROCESSED) verses killer diseases (cancers and heart disease).  The countries that consume the most healthy (the green bars) unrefined foods had a direct correlation of the lowest rates of diseases!  So when you’re out partying tonight (it IS Saturday after all! 😎 ) order a dinner that is as plant-based as possible!  Kay, that was my two cents for the day…..

Cannellini Beans BLOCK Carb Absorption? Read on!

I hope you find this as interesting as I did!  Ready?  Here goes!  Eating white kidney beans (also known as cannellini beans) can aid in weight loss – and NOT for the obvious reason(s). When one thinks of beans, what comes to mind is the fiber (and uh, ….yah, gas 😯 ) and that bloated fullness feeling, right? However, there is more to it, and this is crazy!  There is actually an enzyme in these beans that BLOCKS starch absorption, ……BLOCKS IT! Pick Your PIG OUTS While On Vaca!
